Hello, my name is Freyia Norling, and I am a witch living in the Arctic wilderness of Norway. I am the owner of an esoteric shoppe called Alvebakken, located in the North Norwegian region of Sápmi.
“Alve dama” — Elven woman — is what they call me, and that name resonates in perfect harmony with every cell in my physical body and the deepest part of my soul.
Let me tell you a story.
When you are around someone for a long time, you get to know them. And when you live in one place for a while, the Nature spirits get to know you as well. Over time, either your actions align with your words, or they do not.
When my daily prayers and actions began to include acknowledgement of the Nature spirits, something changed. I went from feeling like I was being watched with suspicion to feeling like I was being watched with curiosity.
I was no longer simply addressing “Nature” in a vague way — I was speaking directly to the spirits who live near me. Eventually, they spoke back. It was a short and polite conversation. No grand revelations, no treasure, no teachings, no dire warnings or threats.
Just neighbors, brought together by the winds of life and change, being neighborly.
There is great value in honoring the spirits of the land — I call them the Fey — no matter who they are or how you perceive them.
About this offering
I believe that we all have Faery guides — beings who support us, guide us, and surround us.
We are always in relationship with these beings, but it is up to us to decide whether we want to enter into dialogue with them and allow their presence to become known. We have free will in this matter.
This is important to understand, because many people say:
“I don’t hear my guides.”
“I don’t know if they are there.”
“I don’t receive support when I need it.”
To me, this reflects disbelief and an active resistance to allowing the connection, which can block it.
Your guides are always there. They are always supporting you. But they cannot come in unless you ask. They cannot step forward without your free will.
